Getting financial assistance – NDIS and Aged Care Packages

We have all heard of the NDIS and Aged Care, but what is the difference and what financial aid is available.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds services and supports that include, social participation, education, living arrangements, employment, wellbeing and health.

The NDIS is separate to the Disability Support Pension (DSP). If you are receiving DSP, it does not mean you are going to be necessarily eligible for NDIS.

To be eligible for the NDIS, you need to be between the ages of 7 years and 65 years. To apply you need to call 1800 800 110 and ask to make an Access-Request.

My Aged care assists with help at home, as well as short term care. Perhaps you need some help after a hospital stay or support if your regular family carer is taking a holiday.

There are two types of care needs for help at home through My Aged Care. The first being the Commonwealth Home Support Program which provides low-level support to continue living independently. The second type is the Home Care Packages, which are for those with more significant or more complex care needs.

Help at home through My aged Care offers a little help with daily activities to enable independence for you to live in your home for longer. You will find that this funding covers things such as help with mobility, communication, reading, and personal care limitations. Robotic vacuum cleaners, shower chairs and walking frames can also be funded.

Remember the team at WOW Mobility will assist you with finding that item that will make life more comfortable at home.

To apply for subsidised aged care, call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to request an assessment.
